A Mental Health Therapist in Ontario

Hi, I’m Giselle Young, mental health therapist in Ontario helping adults and teens.

My clients are often struggling with sharing themselves with others. They may have no one who knows their full story or what makes them feel vulnerable. And by the same token, they may not have someone to share their hopes and dreams with.

Many of my current and past clients battle anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-esteem challenges. So it can be hard to function to the best of their ability until we start to address these challenges.

It can be hard to feel safe enough to open up to those who know us. I know what that’s like as someone who’s struggled with anxiety and OCD her entire life. My flare ups would happen right when I most needed to stay calm and centered - graduating high school and university, building deeply connected relationships, and advocating for myself at work. So if any of these are your current challenge, I know where you are, and I can help you get through it. I also relate to teens who feel anxious at school, overwhelmed with homework and afterschool activities, or who just need someone to listen to them talk.

How does seeing a mental health therapist help?

The solution is to “unpack it” together. What makes it so hard to show up for your self and relationships? What makes boundaries so challenging? What previous experiences have taught us we’re not “worthy” of love, freedom, and attention?

Through weekly therapy sessions (in person or online), you’ll have a chance to let your story out. This is incredibly freeing. Just getting things off our chests is a big relief. And we’ll work together to find solutions that work for you and your unique life circumstances. Over time, you’ll grow in self-awareness and self-acceptance. And your life challenges and relationships can improve significantly - night and day differences can be achieved in many cases, given enough time and effort.

Of course, we’ll want to make sure there’s a good “therapeutic fit” before working together. Research shows that the biggest factor in a successful therapy outcome is that the client and therapist feel like the fit is natural. That’s why I offer free consultations over phone or Zoom - your chance to meet me, ask questions, and see if working with a mental health therapist is right for you.

What’s it like to work with me?

I bring a strong commitment to authenticity, transparency, and open communication to our therapy sessions. I strive to help you feel attuned to, cared for, understood, and never judged.

My own journey with therapy has taught me the importance of honesty and vulnerability, even when it's difficult. I know firsthand how scary and vulnerable it can be to share your thoughts and feelings for the first time. So I try to make it easy by leaning on my natural warmth and caring personality.

  • You can be your authentic self, even if you’re not (yet) sure who that is.
  • You can feel safe in relationships, including your self-relationship.
  • You can grow into a version of yourself that you’re proud and excited to be.

As I mentioned above, I have experience working with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-esteem challenges. That includes adults, teens, and couples.

I specialize in supporting young people navigating the complexities of adolescence and emerging adulthood. My approach is grounded in empathy and collaboration, and I believe in meeting you where you are without judgment.

I am currently accepting new clients for both in-person and virtual sessions. Let’s connect and start your journey! Click the button below to get started.
